if walls could talk #3

Some walls are alive, blood flows in them, red warm blood pulsates under the thin layer of plaster in the stones … Sometimes when I walk around some wall, I remember the wall that lives in my fantasy, and I am fearful …

Mikuláš Medek, diary entry, 13 April 1951

I was in Athens in connection with the Ex Situ workshop “Structures of Feeling – The Structure of Revenge,” curated by Aristide Antonas, Adam Kaasa, and my partner Yoke-Sum Wong under the auspices of the Onassis Cultural Foundation on June 4-8, 2016.

The theme of the workshop, held at the Diplareios School, was:

At a time following a defeat, how does a city get its revenge?

I decided to skip the talking in favor of wandering the streets with my Leica.

This is the last of three posts documenting the street art of Athens. #1 is here, #2 is here.
